Toronto Alternative Fashion Week [FAT] takes place October 17 - 19, 2006
Fashion Shows. Art Exhibitions. Performances. Live Music. National and International
Talent: 42 designers, 22 visual artists, and 11 music groups set the stage for this
groundbreaking event to unfold. Experience fashion in its raw state, before it gets chewed
up by the mainstream. Innovative. Imaginative. Provocative. Real. This is the new
generation of talent.
Toronto - Slip your feet into some cake shoes, because [FAT] is in this season. The second
annual Toronto Alternative Fashion Week [FAT] is in motion and is set to hit the Distillery
District's Fermenting Cellar from October 17 to 19, 2006.
[FAT] is an interactive multimedia production, melding fashion with performance and visual art
and music. The three-day event features works by local and international artists. The art will be
showcased throughout the event. Joining their Canadian counterparts [FAT] has attracted an
exciting group of international designers and artists from Japan, England, Turkey, Serbia and
Denmark each bringing a new flavor to the Toronto art and fashion scene.
Each night of [FAT] is defined by a different theme - Fantasy, Seduction and Street. Equally
stunning and innovative, every night awakens your senses and steers your imagination. Expect a
slew of runway shows, live performances and installations featuring talented up-starts and
established artisans redefining style and influence. The event is extended through flash street
fashion shows across the city, a Music Mobile, and Creative Corners for local vendors to show,
tell and sell.
In its second year, The Toronto Alternative Fashion Week: [FAT] is Toronto's first-ever alternative
fashion event. With 'alternative' defining their style consciousness, bringing the public and the
industry the mutually exclusive possibilities of fashion-forwards fused with music and art.

The LDA set to review funding for next years event
After the recent controversy over size "zero" catwalk models The London Development Agency (LDA), which supports the week to the tune of £620,000 a year, is set to review it's funding next
