The LDA set to review funding for next years event

After the recent controversy over size "zero" catwalk models The London Development Agency (LDA), which supports the week to the tune of £620,000, a year is set to review it's funding next February unless the Fashion Week organisers confront the issue.

Whilst Madrid & Milan have already issued restrictions on super skinny models, effectively banning them from the catwalks of their respective shows, the LDA stress that no decision has been made by them regarding restricting funding.

The LDA currently have a three year deal to sponser The London Fashion Week and with the current press climate regarding eating disorders and role models whether real or percieved this is bound to be an issue at the top of their agenda.

The Liberal Democrats are making this a priority issue with MP Bob Russell raising questions in the House of Commons and fellow Liberal Democrat MP and Lib Dem Spokesperson for Culture Dee Doocey demanding that LDA Chief executive Mary Reilly withdraw future funding unless similar measures to those taken by Madrid & Milan are put in place by London Fashion week organisers.

LDA chief executive Mary Reilly stressed that although the issue would be raised no decision had yet been taken.
